Tailings Management
How many department silos are managing risks for your infrastructure? Are you certain all critical risks have effective controls in place? Your tailings management teams may need support to identify their weak spots.
Advancing Sustainability
Do you have improvement priorities related to mine wastes? Let’s bring your teams together to understand your challenges, improvement targets, and possible solutions, so that you can move the needle faster.
Mining Circularity
How might you take a bigger leap towards circularity in mining, and eliminate risks? There are many opportunities for implementing circular approaches and technologies. We’d love to support you.
Industry Contributions
Our CEO has contributed time for over a decade with the executive of the Environmental and Social Responsibility Society of our national mining association, Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum (CIM). In this role, she was in charge of the coordination and design of technical content offered through webinars, workshops, dialogue sessions, and the annual convention. This leadership involves a lot of planning with dispersed teams, other societies, and external collaborators to bring this together.
Furthermore, as the current Lead of the CIM Tailings Working Group, our CEO helps design, coordinate, and facilitate the annual Tailings Management Workshops for the CIM Conference.
Our CEO is a member of the Sustainability Steering Committee for the Global Mining Guidelines Group. The Sustainability Working Group aims to develop resources and foster collaboration on operationalizing sustainability, which refers to the process of making sustainability practical, implemented, measurable, technically applied, and integrated throughout operations.
Our CEO was active on the Board of Directors for Women in Mining Women in Nuclear Saskatchewan, Inc. for over 2 years, supporting the coordination of the annual conference and webinars in earlier years as well. With this group of women leaders, women in industry were engaged, and a support network and learning opportunities were offered to women to advance in their roles.
At the graduate level, our CEO has contributed to several professional development and certificate programs. She has designed, developed and delivered content for:
The Tailings Center Tailings Management graduate program curriculum (a collaboration between Colorado School of Mines (Mines), Colorado State University (CSU), and the University of Arizona (Arizona)). The Tailings Management training program was launched in March of 2021 including six short courses of two weeks duration that provide registrants with an understanding of the Fundamentals of Tailings Management.
The AusIMM Tailings Management Certificate program. Featuring internationally-renowned tailings experts and case studies, the course covers geotechnical, geochemical, governance, closure, and socio-economic considerations of tailings management.
The Mining Industry Management Program, for the Masters Environmental, Social and Governance Course. As the global mining industry evolves, there is an increasing recognition of the importance of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in shaping its future. Created collaboratively by 11 highly qualified, mining industry experts, this course provides a comprehensive exploration of sustainable mining practices, focusing on integrating ESG considerations into mining operations.
To help engage our next professional generation, our CEO has worked with various engineering professors and industry network organizers to speak at the University of Saskatchewan, and the University of British Columbia, playing the role of sessional lecturer, workshop facilitator, project team mentor, and in project management courses, as well as on various industry expert panels.
At a junior level, our CEO has also helped out with bringing greater education about mining into our elementary school programs, such as working with the Girls in the Classroom initiative, which was designed to both inform about mining, but also highlight women working in industry and STEM roles.
